Katie – Class of 2020 – Shawnee High School
The most beautiful and genuine thing about Katie is her smile. She is always smiling. Even when I asked her not to smile for more serious poses, she could not do it. She smiled when I made her stand in a thicket and she even smiled when a rash broke out on her leg after she stood in that thicket. Her smile is definitely contagious. Katie actually did three separate shoots with me. I had a wonderful time working with her and her mom at each of those sessions.
Katie has an impressive list of accomplishments and I am very happy to honor her for all of her positive contributions to her community.
Katie is a one-time State qualifier for tennis, 3-time district qualifier for tennis, 3-time district qualifier for swim, and she is a captain of her high school swim team. She swam for 10 years on the Shawnee Country Club Swim team and helped with the youngest swimmers on that team. She has helped coach at the Lima Area Tennis Association (LATA) for four years and she has also served as an assistant coach for the boys’ tennis team. She accomplished all of this in spite of the fact that she tore her ACL and meniscus during her freshman year.
She is a 4-year scholar award winner and she was elected to her senior homecoming court. She is also a member of German Club. She volunteers every morning before school for the United Way of Greater Lima and she is a Big in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Katie has two dogs: Cece and Lucy. Katie will be going to the University of Dayton where she received the Leadership Scholarship Award. She will study political science.
I know that her parents are very proud of her and we all wish for Katie to have a wonderful future filled with many, many blessings.
